Travel Insurance for Frequent Travellers

If you take multiple overseas or domestic trips every year, you might consider an annual Frequent Traveller policy. This means you won’t have to buy travel insurance for every trip, saving you time and potentially saving you money.

Special offer: We're giving you $50 off* all 90 day Frequent Traveller International policies, $25 off* 45 day Frequent Traveller International policies & $20 off*, all 21 day Frequent Traveller policies. If you’re purchasing a Domestic Frequent Traveller policy, you’ll receive $20 off.

When you purchase an annual Frequent Traveller policy, you choose from three different options, and get the benefits of an of an Overseas Comprehensive policy or a Domestic Comprehensive policy.  All benefits listed below are subject to terms and conditions within the PDS

Unlimited Trips In One Year

Take as many trips as you want for one whole year and you'll be covered by your annual policy. See PDS for details.

Unlimited Cancellation

Unlimited Cancellation

Plans can change over a year and you may have to cancel or switch things around. We’ve got you covered for cancellation fees or lost deposits.

Cost Effective

If you travel more than once a year, an annual policy generally works out to be the most cost-effective option.

Overseas & Domestic Cover

Overseas & Domestic Cover

Annual policies are available for both overseas and domestic travellers. Wherever you go, we’ve got your back.

Three Policies To Choose From

Customise Your Policy

There are three annual policy types to choose from designed to suit different trip lengths, plus a range of optional extras.

Kids Travel Free

Kids Cost No Extra

If you take a lot of family holidays, then you can add your kids and grandkids (ie. your dependants) to the annual policy for no additional cost. See the PDS for details.

Travel On One Policy

add your spouse

Keep it simple and add your spouse or partner to your Frequent Traveller policy and ensure you're both covered on your trips through the year.

Three Policies To Choose From

Choose your destination/S

Why should you pay for a worldwide policy when you're only going on multiple trips to one destination? If all your trips are to one region (like New Zealand) then you just pay for insurance to that area.

What are my options for Annual Travel Insurance?

Please also note that you can only purchase an a Frequent Traveller policy 30 days before your first trip.

  • Option 1 - Frequent Traveller 21 days maximum

For travellers who tend to take shorter trips throughout the year. Each individual trip you take under your policy will need to be under 21 days long.

  • option 2 - frequent traveller 45 days maximum

If your trips are between 3 to 6 weeks. Each individual trip you take under your policy will need to be under 45 days long.

  • option 3 - frequent traveller 90 days maximum

This is the most flexible option as it gives you more freedom to extend trips and still be covered. Each individual trip you take under your annual policy will need to be under 90 days long.

Please note: if your trip is longer than what you stipulate initially (i.e 21, 45, 90 days), then you will need to buy another policy to cover that trip.

FAQs About annual travel Insurance

  • What’s The Difference Between A Frequent Traveller Policy & A Single Trip Policy?
  • Our Frequent Traveller policies covers unlimited journeys over a 12 month period. The maximum duration of cover for any one journey will depend upon which policy option you have selected. You can choose to cover trips that are maximum of 21 days, 45 days, or 90 days.

Our Single Trip policies just cover that one single trip that you provide dates for at the time of purchase.

  • Can More Than One Person Go On A Frequent Traveller Policy?
  • Yes, of course. A Frequent Traveller policy covers you and the members of your family or even friends who go with you on your journey and are listed as covered on your Certificate of Insurance.

  • How Do I Renew My Frequent Traveller Annual Policy?
  • You simply need to call the call centre on 0800 000 333, email us at [email protected] or speak to a call centre representative via online chat. One of our trained call centre staff members will assist you in the policy renewal. We will also send you reminder emails when your annual policy is due to be renewed and you can also do the renewal online. Please note there may be instances where a policy renewal is not available.

  • Do I Need To Tell 1Cover When My Trips Take Place?
  • One of the benefits of having a Frequent Traveller policy is that you do not have to contact us each time you travel within the dates that your policy covers.

Even though you don’t need to tell us, we advise that you keep track of bookings or receipts in case anything happens and you need to claim.

  • Are There Any Age Restrictions On Frequent Traveller Policies?
  • Yes, these policies are only available for customers under the age of 64. Don’t worry if you are 64 and over, we can still cover you on a single-trip basis on a Comprehensive policy.

  • What Happens If I Come Home Early?
  • Your policy covers the full duration of your trip. There are no refunds should you come home earlier than planned.

  • How Far Out Can I Book My Frequent Traveller Policy?
  • You can only purchase an a Frequent Traveller policy 30 days before your first trip.

  • Is an annual frequent traveller policy suitable for business travellers?
  • With 1Cover’s annual Frequent Traveller policies, some of the things that might suit business travellers are:
    -  luggage and personal effects cover. We provide this benefit automatically automatically, plus you can increase specific coverage for high value business equipment, such as laptops, up to the value of $5,000. Check the PDS for details.

    - cancellation and lost deposits. This is provided in case you have to cancel your plans due to unforeseen circumstances outside of your control. We also cover Alternative Travel Expenses. This means if you encounter transport delays, you may have provision to claim if you need to reach important events such as conferences or meetings.

  • Do I Need To Tell 1Cover When My Trips Take Place?
  • With a Frequent Traveller Policy you don't need to tell us when you're travelling, or where you’re going and you don't need to book your insurance every time you take a trip.

Please note, if your trip is longer than what you stipulate initially (i.e 21, 45, 90 days), then you will need to buy another policy to cover that trip.
