International Frequent Traveller Policy Paused

Due to the ongoing coronavirus situation, 1Cover has temporarily ceased issuing new International Annual Travel Insurance policies.  The good news is, we're selling single trip policies for international travel.  Get a quote for your next Overseas Trip.

We are selling Domestic Frequent Traveller policies, so if you have a few domestic trips planned or travel New Zealand a lot, you can buy a domestic multi-trip policy to simplify your travel insurance.

You get cover for a year of travel in New Zealand, and you can pick a maximum duration limit for all your trips. The shorter your trips, the cheaper your policy.

Benefits of annual travel insurance

Annual Travel Insurance is for frequent travellers. An annual travel insurance policy covers you for any number of international or domestic trips for a 12 month period. Annual policies aren't designed for long-term travel, but provide you with cover for multiple short term trips over the space of a year.

With an annual travel insurance policy, you won’t have to buy travel insurance for every trip, saving you time and potentially saving you money.

Annual travel insurance policies have different maximum trip duration limits, and you choose from three different options. Depending on which policy you choose, you’ll have a maximum number of days you can spend overseas per trip.

You also have the option of an annual domestic travel insurance policy or an annual overseas travel insurance policy. An overseas policy will cover you for both domestic and overseas trips.

Below is a summary of a few key benefits, which are all subject to the terms and conditions. All benefits listed below are subject to terms and conditions within the Policy Wording.

FAQs About annual travel Insurance

  • What’s The Difference Between A Frequent Traveller Policy & A Single Trip Policy?
  • Our Frequent Traveller policies covers unlimited journeys over a 12 month period. The maximum duration of cover for any one journey will depend upon which policy option you have selected. You can choose to cover trips that are maximum of 21 days, 45 days, or 90 days.

Our Single Trip policies just cover that one single trip that you provide dates for at the time of purchase.

  • Can More Than One Person Go On A Frequent Traveller Policy?
  • Yes, of course. A Frequent Traveller policy covers you and the members of your family or even friends who go with you on your journey and are listed as covered on your Certificate of Insurance.

  • How Do I Renew My Frequent Traveller Annual Policy?
  • You simply need to call the call centre on 0800 000 333, email us at [email protected] or speak to a call centre representative via online chat. One of our trained call centre staff members will assist you in the policy renewal. We will also send you reminder emails when your annual policy is due to be renewed and you can also do the renewal online. Please note there may be instances where a policy renewal is not available.

  • Do I Need To Tell 1Cover When My Trips Take Place?
  • One of the benefits of having a Frequent Traveller policy is that you do not have to contact us each time you travel within the dates that your policy covers.

Even though you don’t need to tell us, we advise that you keep track of bookings or receipts in case anything happens and you need to claim.

  • Are There Any Age Restrictions On Frequent Traveller Policies?
  • Yes, these policies are only available for customers under the age of 64. Don’t worry if you are 64 and over, we can still cover you on a single-trip basis on a Comprehensive policy.

  • What Happens If I Come Home Early?
  • Your policy covers the full duration of your trip. There are no refunds should you come home earlier than planned.

  • How Far Out Can I Book My Frequent Traveller Policy?
  • You can only purchase an a Frequent Traveller policy 30 days before your first trip.

  • Is an annual frequent traveller policy suitable for business travellers?
  • With 1Cover’s annual Frequent Traveller policies, some of the things that might suit business travellers are:
    -  luggage and personal effects cover. We provide this benefit automatically automatically, plus you can increase specific coverage for high value business equipment, such as laptops, up to the value of $5,000. Check the Policy Wording for details.

    - cancellation and lost deposits. This is provided in case you have to cancel your plans due to unforeseen circumstances outside of your control. We also cover Alternative Travel Expenses. This means if you encounter transport delays, you may have provision to claim if you need to reach important events such as conferences or meetings.

  • Do I Need To Tell 1Cover When My Trips Take Place?
  • With a Frequent Traveller Policy you don't need to tell us when you're travelling, or where you’re going and you don't need to book your insurance every time you take a trip.

Please note, if your trip is longer than what you stipulate initially (i.e 21, 45, 90 days), then you will need to buy another policy to cover that trip.
