Is Cover Provided For High-Value Items like laptops?

Our Comprehensive and Domestic policies have a ‘Luggage & Personal Effects’* section, and that means any personal items owned by you and that you take with you or buy on your journey. This includes computers, video recorders and cameras.

Luggage & personal effects are covered under all plans except for Medical Only, but individual limits apply to each item as per the table below, and depreciation applies if you claim.

Items Maximum payable amount for the first item*# Maximum payable amount for subsequent lost/stolen/damaged items within same category

Personal Laptops, video recorders or cameras

$3,000

$750

Mobile phones and tablets, (including PDA's and any other item with phone capabilities)

$1,000

$750

If you have an item that you’d like to insure for a higher limit, and you don’t want depreciation to apply, we have the option for you to specify high value items up to $5,000. However, high value items have to be less than 12 months old, and you should have the original receipt. You also can’t specify jewellery, bicycles, watches and watercraft (other than surfboards).

All you need to do is list each item and its value when you apply for cover.
