What is Already Overseas Travel insurance?

An Already Overseas policy provides the same benefits as an Overseas Comprehensive Policy. The only difference is that you must be overseas when you purchase this policy because this policy is designed for those travellers who have forgotten their insurance or forgot to extend an existing policy and now need to purchase more travel insurance.

It's important to note that there is no cover provided under any section of the policy for the first 72 hours from the start date on your certificate of insurance. Other exclusions apply. Please read the Policy Wording for details.

Already Overseas policy: what you need to know

  • There is no cover provided under any section of the policy for the first 72 hours from the start date on your certificate of insurance.
  • There is a non-removable excess on this policy of $250.
  • You can only purchase an Already Overseas policy once every 12 months.
  • We're not able to offer cover for pre-existing medical condition(s) for the Already Overseas policy.

You can purchase this policy if:

  • You're under the age limit. See the Policy Wording for details
  • You have a permanent residential address in New Zealand and you intend to be going back home at the end of your trip.
  • You buy your policy within 5 days of leaving New Zealand, or within 5 days of a previous travel insurance policy expiring.
  • You will be returning home within 90 days or less from the date the policy issued.
