If you’re experiencing a medical emergency, you or a member of your travelling party should immediately contact the nearest emergency service. If you need help locating those details, our medical assistance team can help you do so. Once your policy has been confirmed with us, our medical team can help you locate the nearest hospital and assist in getting you there.
If you’re unable to get there on your own, our medical assistance team can help arrange an ambulance to get you to the nearest and most appropriate hospital. If necessary, well arrange to medivac you to a more suitable hospital or repatriate you back home to Australia.
During your time in hospital 1Cover will liaise with your medical team and hospital staff, handle your medical bills and provide you with advice and support. If you are travelling alone, we can also arrange for a family member or partner to fly over to you if required. If you have any queries, dont hesitate to contact our medical assistance team.
Ensure you keep all medical records, receipts for medications, discharge paperwork, and any hospital bills: doing so will make it much easier to claim for any out-of-pocket expenses. Reach out to 1Cover if you’re unsure about what documents you may need to submit your claim.
Quick note: In the event that your hospital bill does not exceed AUD $1,000 you’ll be required to pay your medical expenses upfront and then make a claim for reimbursement.
If you are travelling on your own it’s important to nominate an emergency contact person back home. Your emergency contact should know your whereabouts and have a copy of your travel insurance policy documents. In the event of a medical emergency your emergency contact can assist us with any support you may require and provide us with important information.
