NZ government advice for Poland

Flag of Poland

When travelling to Poland, you should always get travel insurance in case the worst happens. To help you ensure you travel safely, we have included the travel advice from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade for Poland.

Terrorism
Poland shares with the rest of Europe a threat from terrorism. New Zealanders in Poland are advised to stay informed of potential threats to safety and security by monitoring the media and other local information sources. We recommend New Zealanders exercise a high degree of security awareness and follow any instructions issued by the Polish authorities.

Civil unrest
New Zealanders are advised to avoid all protests, demonstrations and rallies as they can occasionally turn violent.

Crime
Opportunistic petty crime like pickpocketing and bag snatching occurs in tourist areas in the larger cities but also on and around public transport facilities. Travellers are often targeted on long distance trains and buses, particularly at night, and on public transport between the airport and central Warsaw. New Zealanders are advised to be security conscious in public places and guard belongings carefully.

General travel advice
New Zealanders travelling or living in Poland should have comprehensive medical and travel insurance policies in place.

New Zealanders in Poland are encouraged to register their details with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
