NZ government advice for Ethiopia
When travelling to Ethiopia, you should always get travel insurance in case the worst happens. To help you ensure you travel safely, we have included the travel advice from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade for Ethiopia.
We advise against travel to the Gambella region where the situation is tense. If you intend crossing into Kenya or Sudan check with authorities about travelling by convoy.
Check the situation before setting out to Djibouti by rail or road.
In Addis Ababa there is some risk and we advise you to be security conscious. In March and May 2006 there were explosions in various parts of the capital. The situation remains volatile and demonstrations could recur at any time.
